Wake Me Up When You Come Home

It's been a long day, I had to work late.
I'll make us some dinner and for awhile I'll wait.
I'm going to bed now because I don't know how long,
Dinners in the oven keeping it warm.

Wake me up when you come home.

I've got our lazy Sunday planned,
some movies and popcorn all day holding hands.
We'll order a pizza, make love on the floor.
I'm here waiting for you to to walk through the door.
Something must have kept you,
don't worry next week will work too.
Do me a favor won't you?

Wake me up when you come home.

Reality caught up with me today,
dreaming about what I wish I could say.
You've only ever been here in the dreams in my head.
That's why every morning I wake up alone in my bed.
Wishful thinking on my part,
letting my hopes take over my heart.
Your heart was never mine,
that's why today I'm here alone.
I hope someday you will be here to....

Wake me up when you come home.

Hi, a sweet dreamy poem of a love you are searchinmg for, this is simple but enchanting, a breath of fresh air amongst the heavier poetry, loved it, I found it delightful, hope you find that love and it will be as it is in your poem, all the best, a big hug Di

Gorgeous. The repitition made this. The first stanza spoke so much. I may not have lived the experience but the way you describe it so elegantly makes me understand. You nearly turn a boy straight, writing like this! It was so great I'm going to print it out, which is saying something as I don't do that often. Excellent work!

Omg...speechless. No words to say, but a million thoughts to think. I absolutely love this. I can't believe how good this is...I'm sitting here with my mouth wide open. And it's so weird because it sounds just like me and my ex-boyfriend...same situation. You're good at this writing thing...keep up the great work...
