Oh, Glorious Christmas Night!

Missing image
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…
And His name will be called: Wonderful, Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
From Isaiah 9:6

“It came upon a midnight clear,”
when all at once a star appeared.
It shined on Bethlehem so bright--
Guiding those who traveled that night.

A symbol of the One foretold
born this night; in manger’d fold
among the bleating of the sheep,
the Lamb of God, our souls to keep.

A gift for man sent from above,
redemption planned with His great love.
He lived; then died at Calvary--
Forsaken not, for you and me.

May the glory of His host surround you,
this blessed holiday season.

    You did well, angelic poet

to connect Christmas and Easter because they are not spirituallydisconnected: one is the phenomenon of God contracted to a span; the other, the babe grew to perfected man and through His resurrection saved us from sin and spiritual death. It is true that you relied heavily upon a well-known carol, but you put yourown stamp on it. And the painting with the Magi in the foreground and Bethlehem lit up in the background is central to your poem of the celebrated birth.
Thank you for placing your poem, here, poet. Good wishes. Ron

    good job

Very nice Sandi. I see what you mean about being similar to my poem. However, mine was written 2 years ago.

I don't know whether this will win a trophy, but it's a winner in my book.
