Dissociation

Did you know when it started
You would end it
Wend your way through all the pieces
Lie them flat on the floor so they would be easy to see
To sort
Take it
It looks better on you anyway
I'd rather see you in it anyday
Smile
But it's not wise
And it's not right
We'll sever ties
And never fight
Again
Making up was so painful
Waking up never felt so wrong
Roll over trip and fall into
a cardboard box of dreams
Kind of--
leans to one side
Like the Tower of Pisa but
Not near so majestic
Or grandiose
A little more personal
A little more close
Not perfect
But loved
It was all I wanted
You knew it so
When it started
Did you know you'd end it.

what i get from this poem is confusion and maybe anger...as if you kind of knew the relationship would end eventually...
