Where an arrow points it directs our attention
toward a specific, narrowed direction
It singles out an area from the rest
or it may be indicating a direction
in which to move, as a road sign does best
The equals sign indicates an equivalency
between two objects or conditions,
our consideration of which can go either way consistently
In philosophy this is called a tautology
In math it is called an equation – a main interest of mine -
There can be equivalencies in the three spatial dimensions
but not in time
The year 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue
cannot be equated with any year before or since you care to review
Since 1492 the steam engine has been invented
Now the internal combustion engine is embraced
and recently rocket propulsion carried us into space
Through time everything is changing
and no two points in time are the same
The arrow of time records this rearranging
and indicates purposeful motion gain
No two snowflakes are exactly alike
which is also true for the individuals of all forms of life
and for all tables and chairs and your coffee cup
for everything physical, because different atoms make them up
You may point to a particularly beautiful snowflake
It's no mistake
Within this world, I think of these directions
as arrows pointing sideways - they rate the snowflake
Two and two does not fail to equal four
You may have two cars here and two cars there
and they together equal four
You may have two people here and two people there
and together they equal four
It doesn't matter what you are counting
the principle is the same
the principle does not become different
Not just for mathematical principles is this true
This is true for moral principles and for God's Word
These don't change; they do not begin and do not end
God's directions to us are like arrows pointing toward Him
This is the way it is with Spiritual things
Moral values don't change
any more than the consistent comfort a chair brings
There are different chairs; and no two chairs are exactly alike
but a chair is always something we have to sit down in
I think of absolute, unchanging moral principles as arrows pointing up
And the temptation to disobey them as arrows pointing down
God does not change
His moral laws do not change
His physical laws, the natural laws He made to run this world, do not change
While everything that is in this physical universe Creation range
is in motion and constant change
In the supernatural realm of God things do not change
This is the realm (Heaven) into which God is preparing His true Saints to be transfigured from material to Spiritual
We will be the last remnant, the final remnant, those few, who are truly saved
Our affluent lives on earth encourage so many moral slips
we are finding new physical comforts, creating new things,
TVs, washing machines, cars and rocket ships
People lost in what affluence brings
There is an explosion of motion going on
Blinding, so many tuning "bad to the bone"
As the opportunity on earth for salvation for so many narrows
In Heaven I predict we won't need any of this stuff
It will be a world with no arrows
We will have arrived where God alone is enough
Surrounded by pure love and untold mysteries to fathom
in the infinite and eternal blissful world of nothingever random
To be in Heaven is the culmination of God's plan for us
This is the way our arrow pointed all along on our walk with God in trust
Now in glorified bodies, we are in Heaven where no arrows have to point the way
We don't need arrows anymore; we have arrived for an eternal stay
