Not All Birds Can Fly

Raging emotions bubble inside of me
as I watch the birds in the sky fly free
I ponder upon my own life and my own choice
when I chose to live with my doll without a voice

Reality struck me like never before
when I realized Mana was a doll no more
A doll on the outside, but never within
He breathes, he speaks, he has human skin

My heart dropped a little, but not too much
even though my dream was lost from his touch
The doll I loved was gone, and the love changed too
and I had to decide if I wanted wings birds grew

The pain in his eyes that I saw was heartbreaking
since I had given myself to him for the taking
And now I break what heart he has left
by making him feel as if it was theft

My heart aches and then I realize something
And before I know it, I am rushing
Down the stairs, I can see him at the door,
but I'm too careless, I fall to the floor

And the only thing I ever wanted was to tell him this:
'I'll be yours forever, never to fly, but take your kiss.'
With a harshness of pain, I know I'm going to die
and with my last bit of strength, I tell him, 'Not all birds can fly.'

Author notes

The story Eternal Wings belongs to my lovely friend, Sparrow, and that is what inspired this poem. It's from Kanaye's point of view. <3

I hope the rhyming didn't sound forced...but I tried. I'm sorry if it isn't worthy of your beautiful story, but I was annoyed with the lack of entries.

Hmm...this is an interesting idea. Love the line "Not all birds can fly." I think I might have to look up this story if it's still on AP. Lovely write, my dear, as always. And, no, the rhyme wasn't forced.

    Rhyming is a b***.
    I commend you.

I lack the skill to pull off long poetry, and rhyme.

O.M.K. This was brilliant. Thank you so much for entering. The rhyming did sound a little forced at times, but it was completely okay. No, i take that back. It was completely amazing.
The pain in his eyes that I saw was heartbreaking
since I had given myself to him for the taking
And now I break what heart he has left
by making him feel as if it was theft
That and the last verse.. wow. I want to applaud this.. but by the looks of it you'll be getting more than an honourable mention. ^_^
Thank you so much Rose-chan. ^_^
