Beyond The Thorn

The rose garden is my sanctuary
protection from my cruel world
outside of these boxwood hedges
my cocoon becomes unfurled

Their fragrance creates happiness
like love in the early Spring
the colours sound like a symphony
swaying back and forth on a swing

Protected by her prickly thorns
all her secrets become entwined
beauty can sometimes deceive you
when held tightly or too confined

The softness of the rose petals
bring desire for your gentle touch
for a moment I let my guard down
my heart begins missing you so much

As my mind comes back to reality
the thorn pricks open my skin
I remain in my rose garden sanctuary
though tempted I did not give in

    Beautiful written and beautiful sentiments.

Beautifully written Sandy and with your delicate feminine touch. The picture you have painted glows as if printed on silk and the emotions and feelings build to a pleasant ending leaving a warm, pleasant afterglow in one's bosom.

    Beautiful wording and graphic.

This is simply beautiful and well I enjoyed every line of it and the graphic as well. Well there are thorns even in the most beautiful of flowers. I do applaud and so I send through this.
