The Great Insanes vs. Bloomers Rout

Dragonfly vs. Butterfly
The Great Insanes vs. Bloomers Rout

Dragoon Dragonfly from the dirty dregs of Dummy Dump
Had lit beneath an elegant elm upon a rotten stump.
“I know you’re no good and up to same,” said one I won’t name
To protect him from the Dragoon gang, known simply as “The Insane.”

A crimson thread, it is said, is tied around every Insane’s toe
To remind them of everything they are too dumb to know.
“Mr. Dragoon,” our unnamed friend went on, “I, too, am not alone.
My “Blooming Gang” will knock yours down, beat them up, and break each bone.”

“Your story doesn’t fly Butterfly [oh well],” said the sinister Dragonfly.
“Our wings are fast; yours are slow.  We’ll dine on Butterfly Pie!”
Each flew back and told his pack to expect the other’s attack.
Through his window by the lake a boy of ten saw the attack begin.

Out he ran with net in hand to capture the ultimate prize: dragonflies.
The slower flying butterflies were not as fun a challenge in his eyes.
The golden sun’s lake reflection was in the eyes of the dragonflies.
The boy caught those dragoon dragonfly low lifes by surprise.

Adroit use of the tool netted one, then two, then three dragonflies.
Quickly the big ten-year-old boy caught them all to his surprise!
All was now quiet on the battlefront; birds and bugs relaxed in their places.
Butterfly said, “It’s sure nice to have friends among the human races!”
