Dance in the City

Zagreb. Main square. Old musician with his accordion sited on the small chair. French chanson in the air.

Then, I saw two aged, in their eighty, looking each other. He asked her:

Would you care to dance with me?

Her answer was smile, with love and passion.

I cant believe that I saw that.

They were dancing in the middle of the square, looking each other deep into the eyes.

I smiled and cried at the same time. That was the best I ever saw.

Eternal love.

Then, he approach to me:

Please, wipe your tears. Live only your smile.  You will dance tomorrow.

This reminds me of the old Plaza De Armas of the ancient and old squares in Chile, Bolivia and Peru....I can see the memories of before...small, dark bands...old couples, dancing because of long love or habit or too much wine..the natives silently watching with their cheap cerveza...I like this simple, short piece very much...

Absolutley amazing! I guess you could say this poem gave me warm fuzzies. I loved it, the imagery of the elder people who are still in love. So adorable. Such a beautiful write!

No, this background is not from AP. When I found it, I said: this one I need... Color and graphic is just right for this story.

Thank you Yvon for your kind comment. I am not familiar with French, and I will try to write it correct: Chanson d'amour. Sorry if I make any mistake with this title. Very sensitive, soft and...everything we need fron great chanson.

    Sketch wants more room

    Sonja,
Really find your concept strong. The idea of mental and ambiant atmosphere surface from your words. I only wish this particular piece were more evocative of the "French chanson in the air," and somehow more involvement with the mystery held between the two older lovers eyes and contact. Their love is so magical that their dance could make time stand still, and the city along with French chanson everthing else is dancing. Also, what song was frenchy playing?

P.S. I'm into intimacy and this piece has potential for further development. I could be wrong, but your piece tells me what I've said

    Sincerely,

    Yvon

This is one of the best poems that I have read on the internet for a long time. I liked the way you brought the characters alive in a very subtle way. The poem was understated which made it much more believable. It was a romantic poem that was also sophisticated.

I agree with your comparission with rose blooms. Maybe just because of this reason you can find some rose between books pages or somwhere on other hidden place. Or, those rose in your heart...
And about dance. What could be better between two lovers except dance? Of course when it is special like this one.

Thank you Carol for this nice and sweet comment.
I am always trying to be focused on the people, no matter how old they are, their feelings and nature all around. For me, it is very important to see everything and to understand everything. Sometimes, it could be strassful, but it worth to see picture and dance like this one. I dare to say that that helps me to write poetry, stories and novels.
Maybe that was my wish to live for that kind of love.

What I find most interesting is your approach. It's a minimalist contest (I suppose) and thus you use a style that corresponds. It's an interesting idea. It strips everything down to it's basic elements...to only that which is important.

you know, usually people don't write about "that" age which better be forgotten. that's a very nice tribute you pay for those who stay young forever. very gentle and nice piece, sonja.
