My love is like a garden closed,
A spring shut up, a fountain sealed;
Her scent the only thing exposed,
An orchard full of fruits concealed.
With all the trees of frankincense,
And spikenard, saffron, cinnamon,
With camphire, calamus, and myrrh,
By living streams from Lebanon.
Awake and come, O mistral north!
Make all the leaves of aloe roam;
Blow fierce and send her spices forth,
Reveal the pomegranates home.
Awake and come, sirocco south!
Bear down until she ooze and weep;
Her milk and wine shall please my mouth-
Abundantly I drink it deep.
Then hit her with a stormy gale
That makes the dripping honey fly,
And sets the chiefest spices sail
Across the permeated sky.
How can our friends come taste and see
Unless they find the garden spring?
How can her fragrance capture Me
Unless I make her branches sing?
Yea, let the restless breezes blow
So others glean her pleasantry;
Oh, let her healing spices flow
Until she opens up to Me.

Ooh! Now you now this is the heart of poetry--spiritual writes such as these--Song of Solomon style! I absolutely adored it. Lord have mercy, it is very similar to mine: allpoetry.com/Poem/1962040
Thank you so much for commenting. I just love your poetry and of course, you may print any of my poems as I will be printing yours as well. I love to have poetry on hand; I read all the time. It is one of my inspirations for writing. Hugs, Belle -
Wow! This is very exhilarating! Just like the biblical poem. While I know it alludes to the love Jesus has for His own, it is also right to note how the poem reflects the blessing of waiting for the right one to have a physical relationship with, and I see this in your write as well.
My favorite part is:
"Then hit her with a stormy gale
That makes the dripping honey fly,
And sets the chiefest spices sail
Across the permeated sky."
That really moves me.
If you wish, I also wrote a poem based on the Song of Solomon. If you wish to read it, here is the link:

Thanks, sis! You are very talented! -
You know, I don't feel like I really did anything but shuffle some words around... but it was all in there!
I knew you'd like it- not because I wrote it, but because of Who prompted me.
It's a good passage, too! (Oh, poo!- forgot to put the references in there!)
I kind-of got a "rhema" out of it the other day, hence the poem.

Gorgeous
Oh my, Natalie... I think you have just become my favorite poet.
You need to be posting these on your LJ too, for everyone else to see! This is *exquisite* - incorporating all the Biblical imagery but also the heartbeat of love that could have so easily been missed in the writing. Beautiful job and I can't wait to read more.
