I had begun to think that my bruised and broken heart
Would never mend
That love would never really be meant for me
Loneliness was freezing my soul in cloaking shadow
Until I was but a flickering candle flame
A healer and teacher of compassion
With all this love to give
And none returned
Then came you
A light in it all
Who came to catch this angel
Who had fallen from grace
With a touch of your hand
You returned color and beauty
To my mindless existence
Making this dreamer of a poet sing in joy
Around you
I'm no longer half alive
I'm beautiful and vibrant
A princess among the masses
Letting me know that a heart can be mended
That mine had not shattered beyond repair
When I speak I can be only myself
I can let all walls fall
Knowing that I am safe and welcomed
In the warm embrace of your arms
You've accepted me for who I am
Where others did only out of deception
When you put your hand in mine
It feels so right
Nothing else could feel quite like this
Even this weary tried warrior
Can now dance among the lanterns of stars
Bathed in light and laughter
Peace a friend once more...
