Fine Feathered Friends

Missing image

There was a bird in a cage,
he used to sing all day.
one day she was missing,
I thought she flew away.

A few feathers were found,
all around the kitty cats bed.
the cats killed poor Sweety,
my little pet bird was dead.

The news spread far and wide,
About these three killer cats.
instead of eating poor Sweety,
they should be eating rats.

These fine feathered friends,
were angry and had enough.
they were friendly no more,
things were going to get tough.

Lined up on the wires overhead,
they would attack so angrily.
dive bombing at the three cats,
in formation for their victory.

Now the cats sit at the window,
not daring to go outside again.
now scared of each little bird,
no longer a fine feathered friend.

So remember when you are small,
that safety in numbers is very true.
instead of being fair weather friends,
they will always be there for you.

Hey this is atrocious and absolutely horrendous to read I am a cats lover and strongly protest my angst....hahaha..why are u maligning cats like this even though in a lighter vein..at least they are good company...we dont feel lonely..they are instrumental in easing our troubles..and what about our feathered friends..dropping poop everywhere...making weird noises....Shubs

This is a beautiful poem that unfolds to the readers the way and manner betrayals and treachery applies in real life.
A powerfully worded poem replete with wits and humour.

This made me giggle a little in the end, my cat used to try to attack ym hamster, so eventually the little thing started biting my cat on the nose-- he learned fast. XD Anyway, nice piece. I like the pic at the top of the page as well, really.

    too sad

This is so sad. It really brings back some very sad memories for me. I had a cute little parakeet and one day I looked and the cage was empty. My siamese cat learned to open the door and..........it is so, so SAD.... Brought back some very sad stuff for me

    WONDERFUL COMMENT

I remember when I went to the hospital to have my first child. I had a blue parakette named Buttons. My mother in law gave him to me. I left him at my moms and her cat, named Perky ate him. True story. Thank you for sharing your sad tail. I appreciate it. Wonderful comment Take care, Sandy

oh no! I had to know someone would do a poem like this one day. this poem brings tears to my eyes. I had three parakeets and five cats. one morning i wake up, feed the cats, then notice little clumps of green, blue and white bird feathers here and there.

this poem brings me back to that moment, a flood of memories--(and after all that money spent on grief counseling too). just sitting here with tears in my eyes, missing my budgies all over again, wondering just how someone could be so cruel.

    so...got a tissue???

    Jo

P.S.: btw, J/K with you, although it's a real-life story. only too bad cats can't read!
