what can I say
about this lone cricket
beneath a harvest moon
still singing
Summer songs?

I honestly believe this is the first tanka I have ever read.it is a very beautiful piece.I will have to research this style as I see it is similar to Haiku, but longer.very well done sir.I look forward to reading more of your poetry in the future.

wonderful write.. I could see it infront of my eyes, the harvest moon on a dark night where a cricket sings hiding beneath some wild bushes...
keep penning

it seems to me that the "what can I say about" was a bit unnecessary in the tanka. even inappropriate for the form?

lovely observation... perhaps he is an aussie ? the central line seems 'central'... it refers to both thoughts ... and i like the word play - you cant say anything, cricket is saying non stop .... >>> EM

Sounds like he had a good summer and doesn't want it to end
Me, I am ready for the fall
My favorite time of year.

I thought I was to find a poem about the game of cricket but instead - a classic tanka. Clean bowled.

This is cute. I love the backgroung too. It looks like a painting and just adds to the effect of the whole thing. I used to be obsessed with writing tanka.

Haha! Lovely work, wonderful imagery and this background always has me beaming
Wonderful comparisons of two different seasons here..so much of resonance in this. I wonder what that cricket's thinking of!
