Down The Rabbit Hole

Early one morning a girl named Alice
Sat down in front of a rabbit's hole.

"Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit!
Where are you, Mr. Rabbit?"

When his head stuck out of the hole,
He started to speak.
"I'm late!" he cried.
"I'm late!  I'm late!
For a very important date!"
And took out a watch.

Alice couldn't believe her eyes!

"I can't believe my eyes!
A rabbit...with a pocket watch!
I have never seen the like!

Oh!
Where is he going?
Can I fit through his hole?
I certainly do hope so,
For it looks interesting...

I've never been down a rabbit hole before.
I wonder what shall I find?"

A little while later...

"I feel kind of funny,
Weak on my feet,
Wobbly legs.
Where am I going?

I haven't had anything to eat
In several days, so it seems.
Is this the way it's supposed to be?
I am getting worried..."

Even later on...

"I'm stumbling, clinging to the walls,
Crawling.
The blackness is emmense!
I can't see what I'm doing.

My stomach is empty
Yet everytime I try to consume
Any of the matter I see,
I cannot keep it down.
What is going on?
I don't feel right..."

Even later on...

"I must be dying.
All I can hear is the Rabbit,
Striking the walls with his watch
And muttering to himself about me.
Am I holding him back?
Keeping him from something important?
Is that why he is punishing me?

My legs are no longer here,
My bones are poking against my dress,
I can't breathe and my eyes...
My eyes are rolling backwards.

Why did I go down the rabbit hole?"

Alice discovered the rabbit's secret,
His plague on everyone
Who dabbled in his timely game.

He lived inside your head,
He did not allow you to eat.
He killed you.

He hates you.

Author notes

There is symbolism in here.  The rabbit hole is an eating disorder, particularly anorexia.  Mr. Rabbit is your mind and the media, his watch is a scale, the darkness is how blind people with an eating disorder are to how they look, and his game is that of the starve-binge-purge cycle that plagues every anoretic.

Sorry... I found this poem from the random section - which I prefer to search rather than simply clicking on the "featured" list. However, I regret that I simply cannot read blue type on a black background. Do remember that not all of your potential readers have perfect sight - and it is little use having an "artistic" colour-scheme if this means that people must strain to read it.

This is such a strong worded poem, you have some serious talent and inspiration to be able to write something this complex and powerful.
    Congratulations and keep writing.
