autumn leaves
piled high
as we fall back

I remember when I was young and all those memories of Autumn days and playing in the leaves. I'd toss my dog and and watch her run like mad to find her way out. Ah where did those days go? When did I get old? lol It's lovely.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of haiku, occasionally I see one like this and it makes me wish I could write well in this form, just to capture a single thought simply and elegantly. I really enjoyed this glimpse through bare trees of an autumn day

sweet.
sweet. I loved it. It made me smile. a lot of writers have been morbid lately. this was refreshing... -
Extremely clever, nicely done.

Simply beautiful!
Ah perfect! This is so pretty and light-hearted. Such a delightful haiku set in the apt background...this makes my heart tick with delight! It's nice to see you used a season (kigo) in this.
All the best in the contest

The last line has a double meaning. You can fall back into the leaves or fall back as in turn the clocks back 1 hour.

its autumn again! yay!
I love autumn.. I love to walk through the brown trees with a carpet of leaves beneath ... and a misty sky above... Wonderful haiku.. to me, it had a kind of sad feeling to it.. but i always see poetry from a sad side
best of luck in the contest...

Thank you Karen.
Ding, ding, ding...you win the 64,000 dollar question.
Was reading something out of the newspaper and this just came to me. It does seem that the AWOL muse is trying to sneak back in...not singing the Hallelujah chorus just yet. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

Perfect Haiku!!!!
Oh Willow, how delightful!!!! This reminds me of raking up a huge pile of leaves and falling into them as a child. Then there's also the "fall back" in time as we manipulate our clocks, as well as the clever play on words of autumn and fall. Well, I could go on and on about the cleverness of this haiku!!! This is exactly what a haiku is meant to be multi-dimensional and beautiful!!!!! I love it!!!
