Adventure's End

I’m leaving her with a broken heart.
My heart is turned to stone.
I think I will never make a new start.
I am so all alone.

I knew I never really had a chance, and the ride would end somehow,
But every time I rode her it was really quite a blast!
Then at last she flew away, 'cause Pegasus doesn’t allow
Any contact with lowly human beings to last.

once one flies that high, there is no other comparison. It is a priviledge though. you are one of the lucky ones. It is better to have gone for a ride then not at all.

    Excellent!!!!

This is a great write. I guess I don't understand revisions to poetry. I see no need to revise this. I love the fantasy feel to your words. Wouldn't ya love to have a horse with wings? Not to attempt to cage it or keep it as your own but just touch one. And watching it as it flys away. To feel the breeze of it's wings. Beautifully sad write. Well Done.
    Peace to you

you know, ellis, in the beginning, I really was convinced that you talked about a real horse who was your friend in this life. it touched me deeply. only at the end, I got uncertain, as you talked about pegasus, which for me could as well just be a symbolic way of speaking about the soul of a real horse who had left his body. I am probably very much of a dreamer and like a little child who believes in what the eye cannot see ...
my child's heart is very happy after having read your poem.
