River Of Light (Cinquain)

Liquid
prisms, dripping
from a pale blue pooling,
wetting all the earth with beauty:
sunlight.

Nicolette has such a wonderfully huge heart and reads everyone with that openness that is so humbling .... this piece is lovely ... for me i found the last word of each line singing at me ... 'liquid, dripping, pooling, beauty' ... but its late here and perhaps its too much coffee .... ... still i wanted to say ... nicely done >>> EM

Thank you for the insiration. Here in the north, we are getting ready to say goodbye to the wonderful warmth. Still, every season has its charm.
You have given a great challenge. I hardly enter contests with the expectation of winning. Mostly, it is for the idea and the challenge offered. This one was a joy to write.
    Thank you for the opportunity.

This is a very lovely cinquain – indeed a “river of light”! The title fits the contents of the poem just perfectly. I’ve always adored the cinquain poetry form as it forces the poet to really think – not just about syllables, but also about word-economy, images, metaphors and emotion – all within just 5 lines. You did a great job of painting “liquid prisms” with your words – and the syllable count is spot-on too! I really liked the idea of sunshine dripping from the big blue sky (pool) above, “wetting” the earth. Soon it will be summer here in South Africa and we will indeed be “wet” with sunlight! Reading this cinquain also again reminded me of how the earth needs sunlight…how we all need warmth to grow and prosper. Thank you for this lovely river of sunlight flooding my eyes and my heart with warmth and beauty!
