Awaken, Dragon King!
Awaken, dragon king!
Wake up and take to wing,
Alarm, and warn your folk...
Kingdom of wrath; evoke!
Enemy's nemesis,
Natural mimesis.
Dragonlance, fantasy,
Roleplaying, ecstasy.
A friend like few I've met.
Give praise! or else regret
On never giving him
No chance to hear your hymn.
Kingdom of Aasgard come,
Immortal soul's ransom.
Nighthawk, fly ever high,
Guardian, victor; cry!

This poem is entered into the contest "The Magic of Fantasy" by Mystic Enchantress.
This poem won bronze in Awakendragonking84's contest "Dragonlance part 1". It's divided into stanzas, simple rhyme pattern ( aabb ), and six syllables per line. For natural reasons I couldn't use "84".

This is the first acrostic poem I've seen that rhymes this well.You are truly a poetic master and should be getting a big fat unemployment check for that one....lol...sorry, got a chuckle out of that part on your home page.

Thanks, Joyce! Yes, I am experimenting with the different styles of poetry, and thought writing an acrostic in stanzas, in addition to rhyme and rythm, would be a challenge. As you can see, I deliberately changed the pace of the second stanza, another experiment or mine... But wether I breathed fire with this poem, I don't know, but it did come from the heart. Jim, A wonderful acrostic and great tribute to Victor. I like how you used the stanza effect even though it was an acrostic.
I'm sure our fellow starhiker will be pleased to see he was given such a great tribute from a friend. You definitely breathed fire with this. The rhythm and rhyme were perfect and the meaning came from your heart. It flowed magnificently.

I too absolutely love the dagaonlance realm and really wish we could get more good writes in a Sensible dreamy like fantasy fashion. Mine are so well in this style but I like to read others work. thank -
