Halloween Night

Missing image
Haunted hayrides underneath the moon
getting lost in the farmers cornfield mazes
searching for that certain special costume
that are the latest fads or the latest  crazes

The fun  really begins on mischief night
when the little goblins are out for trouble
soaping windows and ringing doorbells
at curfew getting home on the double

Then the big night arrives in all it's wonder
streets are filled with goblins and ghouls
running to all of the houses on the street
with masks of scary monsters that drools

The full moon is high in the sky that night
witches on broomsticks are on the prowl
vampires are looking for the blood mobile
in the distant a werewolf starts to howl

But the street is full of our super heroes
Superman, the Hulk and even Robin
Spider-man is going to a party to have fun
carrying a big bag of apples for bobbin

Yes one night a year they get to pretend
to be someone or something that night
the nightmares begin when they sleep
dreaming about all the Halloween fright

This sounds like a lot of fun, though I don't celebrate halloween. People do in England but I get the feeling it's a much bigger thing in America. You've written it a wonderful tribute.
Would you mind reading mine and Demonic Burden's entry in Janice's young people mentoring contest, love to know what you think? Joe is really coming along and I'm so proud of him, it's so great we can help these young people in here!!!

Wonderful rhyme and meter in this piece. It brought back memories of Halloweens when I was younger. Best wishes in the contest

lol, nice one! I love all your poetry, Mom! Keep up the awesome work cause I love it. You seem to have a poem (or a lot of poems) for every season or holiday. Great job here! Rhyming and flow fit perfectly, as usual. Good luck in the contest.
