Physics

.                                 The streetlights bow down
                                  Upon blocked vision over our
Heads, pass the curves that used
To be, fumbling for my front door key.
But my back's still pressed against the
Lawn chair, the plastic ribbons still
Fold under me, I'm still studying
                  The stars, searching for a
                    Party hat, the Mayflower
                                 And kite strings.
                                  You're walking me
                                  To my front door step.
But I'm still in Physics at two o'clock
   Negative velocity still denotes more
             Speed, I'm still thickening my
           Mascara, before you drove me
                  Away, I'm still calling you
                       On your phone, asking
                            How was your day.
                                  I've said goodbye with a
Loosely wound hug, a faltering wave.

                                               I'm tomorrow
                                               Frowning down on today.

Author notes

If you look at it sideways, the middle is like the x-axis of a position by time graph, from physics. The ends of lines on the positive side would show present positive motion, and the beginnings of the lines on the negative side would show motion from the past, still going in the positive direction, but in the negative time, I guess. I know, I'm a loser. But I like to think I'm a clever one.
