Here I sit,
sleep in eyes,
viewing sunrise
through rose
colored draperies.
Ever so slightly
parted from the left,
offering me
the gift of morning.
Azure blue
fade to white
down dawning sky.
Horizon blocked
by almost picket
wooden fence,
orange rays
hidden by obstruction.
Dawn in the
apartment complex,
unlikely view.
Limited, yet stunning
in its perspective.
Reminds me I can't
always grasp the miracles
from where I sit.
So, I stand
Walk around my desk
throw open the door
and stroll outside.
Breath deep the
morning awe
To grasp the
magnitude of creation.

gorgeous
Sounds like a pretty view, even if it's surprising. I like this one a lot. :-) And I like how it's more free verse than structured by a set rhyme scheme. I like both, but I'm kind of partial to free verse. :-)
Well anyway, another great poem!

You are telling me. For the life of me, I can't figure out why they truly steal my hour every spring. On the weekend of the fall back time change, I always get busted sneaking around setting clocks back on Friday
There is lots of beauty to be seen even when a fence blocks the horizon
. Probably one of the redeeming qualities of living in an area that is considered quite desolate by most, is the fact that to see the beauty here, you have to take the effort to stop and look for it. Lol, natural beauty in my neck of the NOT woods is not served on a plate, that is for sure. But it is there all the same.

Excellent
Smashing piece, i really enjoyed this, have you noticed that you can sit in teh same place everyday and yet everyday if care to look you can see something different, sometimes through a window sometimes just a fly on the wall. My mornings are lovely again now we have moved our clocks an hour again.

I love mornings and you've painted me a wonderful picture view of mornings from your eyes. Very vivid. Well done. Thank you for entering my contest and for the sneak peak out your window.

Thanks so much for your comments. I always appreciate feedback. I really liked this contest idea because it provoked me to simply and spontaneously look around the room--and out the window-- and see what was worth describing. There are so many little bits and pieces of life that we miss throughout the day, and it is always nice to pause and notice the tiny pretty things that make up our day to day experience.

I have sat where you sit..different view..but the same overwhelming feelings of appreciation for the simple, yet inspiring 'humanscape'!
Thanks for sharing this perspective! It inspired me!
"Simply" beautiful!
