Just A Few Blessings

Just A Few Blessings
©copyright 2005 Bonita M Quesinberry, R.C.

I want to praise you, Father, for just a few blessings;
in that there are too many to cite all.
While yet unworthy, at six I should have died five times:
diseases after a thirty-foot fall.

Then birthing babies that should have killed them, and me too;
later, two kids and me to death's thrice call.
And, how about all those surg'ries, Lupus, and MS;
yet, You never let Satan cause a fall.

Oh, Father, You give so much more than You ask of me:
in ev'rything just trust and obey Thee.

So many times it seemed I'd wind up on tough, cruel streets;
left with nothing more than my clothes and name;
another was my home approaching an auction block:
but, each time you quelled Satan's nasty game.

Twelve years ago, that old Devil couldn't knock me down
with heart attacks or stop me with false claims;
nor when again he tried hard to put me on the streets
or used that vile brain aneurysm game.

Oh, Father, You give so much more than You ask of me:
in ev'rything just trust and obey Thee.

And, I must add fam'ly and friends You've placed in my path;
in person, some I've never even seen!
While my war wounds heal, You surrounded me with them all.
Oh! Blessings of worthiness, You have deemed.

I could go on, filling more books than this world can hold.
Though unworthy, some blessings just I've seen:
spiritual gifts many deny when I speak Your Truths.
Still, "bring just one and you're called great," You've deemed.

Oh, Father, You give so much more than You ask of me:
in ev'rything just trust and obey Thee.

Author notes

I feel this poems fits the first 4 contest categories. Additionally, I've read entries by pattyann4500 and Samplette and pentopaper (Karen); each exquisite entries.

On June 28, 2005, Satan hit me with a deadly brain aneurysm in the right temporal lobe above my right eye. I laid on the sofa for 5 days before my neighbor insisted upon taking me to the hospital. Of course, I thought I had just some sort of weird migraine. According to the doctors, I should not have lived; but, if I did, I should have been either comatose or paralyzed and unable to speak. Well, I put God in charge the minute Satan hit me, so he didn't have a chance to do his worst damage. Praise the Lord!!! The picture was taken in ICU 2 days after surgery. I was in ICU for 10 days, then a regular room for 5 days before going home. Within the last 3 weeks I've begun mowing my 3/4 acre of lawn and driving my car! Writing comes in spurts because it's still painful to sit at the computer and look at the screen. Still, I AM A MIRACLE BY THE POWER OF GOD!

    This is one of the most touching pieces I have ever read, for one your love for the Lord shines through like the brightest star, and your life is a great testimony to his power and grace, you are a miracle and God is keeping you around for a reason. I have no doubt that your walk has touched many lives. Your embody what it is to give it to God and let him be in control and you show just how awesome he is. He has healed you when doctors said you should be dead..Praise the Lord...Thank you so much for sharing this with us all...thanks for entering

    This is really a great write revealing the power of the God and the blessings of the loved ones too. It is just a tearfull work relating the a heart of several peaple in this world having the same conditions due to one and another reason.. The thoughs are a travel to the sacred journey of this nature where one can know the power of this great nature and power of the miracles of the great God too. The beauty of this write lies in the depth of its subject . The flow of the write is very impressive and just to the point oo. I really appreciate this work.prabhudayal khattar

    Oh, my beautiful sister, you have been so greatly blessed, and the most amazing thing is that you KNOW you have been. Your faith and your love never falter.

    I have been under stess lately that could have me questioning, but I can only give thanks. I know that God has a plan laid out for us, and His Will be done. I'm sure I'll be plenty happy with the outcome.

    A lovely piece, as usual, my lovely Sis. Get ready to accept your gold, my dear. Love and hugs, Patricia ♥

    READ THIS !!

    Bonnie you have me in tears...happy tears though! Your dedication to God is so genuine and just has to light the smile of the Lord everytime he thinks of you!! The blessings you have recieved are so deserving. You have inspired more people than you will ever know, of that I'd bet my life on. This poem is a stunning tribute to God and the miracles he gives every day! May you remain a thorn in Satan's hand for a VERY long time!!
