Where has innocence gone?
Where are the days where
We don't play each other
Like a pawn.
Innocence is in the children's air
And in their stare
As they play around
And stomp their feet in the ground.
Their light little laughs
As they squeal with delight
Not caring to be polite.
When did it start to go wrong
As I start to think as the
Cigarette is passed along.
Maybe it was when cursing became
Popular or maybe it was when our
First kiss was received in bliss.
As the chain ends and it comes to me last
I know it was gone before high school
Just as I take a drag.
Where are the days where
We don't play each other
Like a pawn.
Innocence is in the children's air
And in their stare
As they play around
And stomp their feet in the ground.
Their light little laughs
As they squeal with delight
Not caring to be polite.
When did it start to go wrong
As I start to think as the
Cigarette is passed along.
Maybe it was when cursing became
Popular or maybe it was when our
First kiss was received in bliss.
As the chain ends and it comes to me last
I know it was gone before high school
Just as I take a drag.
Author notes
This is the result of my musing of the corruption of innocent, sweet kids all along the world. Well, actually it was my musings of when and why innocence always ends. Please enjoy and comment because I would love to hear what you think.

While walking to school the first week I stopped to peak around the corner of a close shopping centre. Always in the first week there are a group of about eight freshmen boys and girls standing in a circle passing around one half smoked cigarrette. One might say that this is a pointless act of becoming "mature" but the ritual contniues every year.
I even remember participating.
Thanks for the great write. You painted that image well. -
I can relate to this so much! Innocence is very quickly lost. People end up looking at you differently. One day you wake up and realize its gone. I've seen many cases the same where people just grow up way too fast. Good luck hun
