You are a part of me
You could even say you’re half
The way you see inside of me
The way you make me laugh
You’re always there to comfort me
When I need to cry
You’ve given my heart a set of wings
And taught me how to fly
With you I’ve learned to laugh
When I didn’t know how to smile
If I need to, you let me cry
But stay with me all the while
You’ve taught me to let go
And you taught me to forgive
You’ve taught me the meaning of life
To love and to live.
You turned around the saying,
That I was brought up being told,
And now I know that new friends are silver
But the old ones are worth the gold...
I can never repay you
For your constant loyalty
You’ve shown me what I can do
And what it means to be me.

Ohhhh! This is definitely from the heart! I have friends I could say this same thing about and hopefully they could say it about me. I can definitely relate to this one. Because my friends are all a part of my life... a big part. Well peened!

Thank you Silent, people come and go throughout our lives, sadly Miriam is no longer a close friend of mine, or there for me like she once was. Rian too, got lost along the wayside although we are getting back on track now with being friends. Fiona is passing through my life I think, moving on with her own, but that's what happens with these strangers that become friends and all that we can do is cherish them while we have them.

Thanks so much for choosing Part of My Life to win this poem, as probably gathered, has great meaning to me, and was originally written for just four of my mates - Waffi, Rian, Miriam and Fiona - although sadly I'm no longer as close to Miriam as I once was but, they were the four that really taught me so much, and they deserve every word I wrote in this poem, and so so so much more!
