Her Redeeming Voice - Sonnet #33

What tender lips have kissed my own, and why
Should I e'en ponder if they were sincere?
For they stirred passion in a soul too shy,
And whispered words a lonely fool should hear.

The heart that sought my own, I feel its beat
As gentle arms enfold, we two are one.
The feelings that flood in are bittersweet,
Euphoric, but some things can't be undone.

The trees o'er head wave wildly in the wind,
The thrashing branches laugh, then twist and snap.
The sound of storms remind me I have sinned,
The mind, sky's light'ning bolts and thunderclap.

Yet through the din sounds her redeeming voice,
And I, saved from its wrath, can but rejoice.

thy words echo within that romance found
where memories rise within that distant past
    ever so gently!
