Come To The Opera, Be Seen

She adores opera night at the Met,
watches closely as the glasses permit.
Entertaining more then a dime store novel.
Elaborate sets with fake streets of cobble.

Music performed by symphonic talent,
actors portrayal of Knights so gallant.
Entire kingdom's nobles and pawns,
preceded  by a late supper at cafe Dubars.

Social gentry all in gracious attendance,
Nodding greetings conversations splendid.
A whirl of an evening in urban fantasy,
performers all decked out as was gentry.

Finery flaunted of tailor makers in vogue,
Come to the opera enjoy elitist  in droves.
It's what the shillings of upper crust buys,
fabulous display of upper crust spying eyes.

Suseann this is a wonderful piece set in a faraway time, you have the feelings so well,as I am sure these functions where more about gossip titbit's than actually an interest in what was taking place on stage Well done good luck

Very nicely done Suseann. You viewed the scene from a distance, but with an perceptious eye. Very well done. I love it. Anna.

Who said your words aren't sheer poetic talent? If they did,I want names! I'm a constant reader of your poetic talent and your on my favorites list. I'd stand your muse along side anyone here, and with good reason. You have talent as a poet.~~~Suseann

    simply explicit

WELL SUSIE......I must admit....I had the same thoughts as you here.....little different....but I realize....my simplicity in words would never compete wtih such a magnificent writing you have created here.....I realize my style of poetry is not poetry to many here...so I will leave this comment with applause.....you have written such a gasping piece here...
