Halloween was a fun filled time as a child
excited to see decorations of orange or black
running from house to house in our costumes
looking for tricks and treats to fill our sack
Halloween night we had fun with our friends
I remember playing pranks the night before
we would soap all the neighbors car windows
and run after we knocked on their front door
The streets were filled with ghosts and monsters
children's laughter could be heard everywhere
little girls dressed like witches or fairies
their eyes full of wonderment, sometimes fear
There was Halloween parties in every classroom
everyone would try and guess who was who
there was always a few boys dressed as a ghost
chasing the girl around the room going Boo!
Those days gone, I hand out little bags of candy
many kids don't even say trick or treat anymore
some children don't even come dressed in a costume
they grab the candy and run out the door
I still watch the Halloween parade in our town
the high school band in funny costumes marches by
the children march in costume in search of a prize
these Halloween memories bring a tear to my eyes

great poem sandygram, i like halloween, but sometimes i get scared, i went to this house once, where it was open to the public, where they decorated there garage and a bit outside with cobwebs, rats, witches, spiders and people who jumped out on you, i was s**t scared lol
but halloween is alright
