Through Mist and Dreams

Through Mist and Dreams

In memory of a dear friend and mentor
Del Warren Livingston
August 9, 1944-September 12, 2005

Through mist and dreams I knew him well
Who, through his work his soul does dwell
His heart beats strong, his will lives on
Within memory he’ll ne’r be gone

Through words of wisdom, strong and true
Poetry shared with me and you
He spoke of love, laughter and song
In form and verse, he did no wrong

His encouraging words in fair critique
Soon set us straight, to reach our peak
Gentle his words of genuine concern
As he helped us get better, to learn

His ample wit, his love for all
Our mentor, master of the ball
I’ll miss him, for now tolls the bell
Through mist and dreams I knew him well

We miss you Del, go with God

Author notes

I can't begin to express the extent of my love and appreciation of Del. He has been such a dear friend, always gentle and caring. He was an inspiration to us all.

This not really meant to be a contest entry, but I wanted to have my thoughts among the others paying tribute to Del

    Doesn't it bother you that you are alive and these people aren't? I mean not that, but how do you feel when these people die?

    Anyways,great tribute.I am sure many will do the same for you.
    Love it.

    It is very evident how highly you felt about Del through these words Dee. I know that your heart is heavy right now, as is mine. Del was a mega talent and had such a huge, generous heart. I know he is smiling from his heavenly cloud right now at the out pour of love that is being shown here. This is quite a heartwrenching task for me to read through and comment on all these wonderful tribute poems. I am sure his family wiil be encouraged as to the gift they gave us by lending us their precious Del (Nadir)

    Thank you so much Dee for adding these beautiful words to this tribute.

    I love you
    Blessings,
    Renee

    excellent!

    Nicely spoken Dee to your friend!
    I did not know him, so have not much to say in honest wirds, except that when a good person passes on, it leaves a hole in many hearts.

    Dear Dee,
    I had already penned this as a comment to Mari & Yem and I would like you to have it too:
    ~~~
    Thoughts of Del.
    The rain sheds tears upon my face;
    my world is now an emptier place.
    I read his first emails to me
    dating from end 2003.
    Our friendship very quickly grew
    we shared much joy and laughter too.
    My published poems first due to Del,
    in this respect he served me well.
    But t'was his friendship I most cherished
    and now his mighty heart has perished.
    His books will be his lasting fame,
    for us, our memories remain.
    Our world will never be the same.
    ~~~
    Thankyou for writing and sharing this beautiful poem.
    Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

    You captured so much I wasn't able to capture with words... and I'm sure a whole lot of people think this way... Del is indeed one great guy, always helpful to learn us something new, with all the patience he needed for that...
    very beautifully done!

    Perfect tribute given

    I am glad you knew him well. I am glad to read him and you and all the others who try. I never learned from him until after he was gone. Your gift of love to him in memory, gives on. A chain letter from heaven sent to earth and back again. The earth is a small part of Gods sky. It is just the place we are for a while. You have honored him, giving his poems to me and others to go to read I now read my favorites ,favorites. Thank you for being here. A perfect tribute to give, showing your heart.
