My apologies to those whose work I've read
Without leaving a comment.
I didn't realize this was a requirement...
But apparently it's a really big deal.
I guess I'm just kind of weird
In the way that I refuse to lie to people.
I'm sorry, but if your work doesn't inspire me to comment
I'm not going to leave something made-up or sugarcoated.
And I certainly wouldn't leave you something
Saying "I don't really feel like commenting this at all.
I'm only doing it because it's expected."
I'm just not that rude.
Bottom Line:
If I read your work and don't leave a comment.
Don't take it personally. Maybe I didn't have time.
Maybe I didn't have anything to say.
Either way, just be glad I'm not completely fake.
And if you're only in it for the points
I'm sorry
But whatever happened
To being in it for the love of poetry?
For the love of words, for the love of self-expression?
Yes, as poets we should support each other.
But do you really want my support if I'm faking it.
Do you really want me to waste your time, leaving a comment
That isn't important, helpful or encouraging?
Alright, enough rambling.
Write for the love of writing, not for the love of points.
Comment for the goodness of others, not because you're "supposed to".
And again, my apologies if it upset you that I didn't comment.

In the words of Drew Carey ...
In the words of Drew Carey ... the points don't matter! (At least not to me.) I share your sentiment - there is so much boring and contrived drivel to sift through -
You want points? You got them!
Good stuff, I hate all those people who go seven shades of mental when you leave one negative comment after complimenting them for paragraphs. I to, only leave comments if I liked the piece, have a suggestion to help improve it or I can make a smart arsed comment. This time, it's because I liked it, have some applause, I probaly won't need them anyway... -
not to mention since when did this turn into a social organization instead of just a place to write and view other people's writing?
