A Weight Has Been Lifted

Grown tired and haggard
At such a young age
Dealing with this hate
Pressed upon me and "my kind"
Hate crimes committed
Sins are overlooked by the sinner
Victims, victimized all the more
Bashing and beatings
How much more can we take
We stand up to the hate
Preachers look down on us
So we preach about PRIDE all the louder
Mothers and Fathers
Lock up your sons and daughters
Don't let them around us "abominations"
We might make them realize
They're something they're not!

I tell my mom one winter day...
And she whispers she still love me
A weight has been lifted.

Author notes

Ok.. I wrote this under two different catogories.  Society and Freedom.

I know it's not all that great.  I just wrote it down as it came to me and I wrote it from something personal.  It's about gay/lesbian bashing and hate.  I hope it was what you were looking for... If not just delete it out of your contest..

I think this to be a very strong piece. You have used such great imagery and expression to get your point across; I wish there were not so many multitudes of ignorant people... They all seem to forget that they are not the judge and jury - and they don't have to accept it - but they surely need to learn to respect the fact that lesbians and gays have just as much right to love as they do!!! Excellent write!

Some of the best writings comes from when a person just sits down and just starts writing as it comes to them. I takes true skill as a writer to do that and you have shown that. nice work. I read about the chidren thing. Sorry to hear that and if it means anything, i was adopted and the way i see it, the ones that raised me are my true parents. Just because you cant give birth doesnt mean you cant still be a mother.
