The Lily Of The Valleys (Ya-Du)

Fairest lily
Of valley deep,
Help me look high
And see Thy love
In sky cloudy up above.

But in ravine
Down between I
Have seen it, too;
For with You there,
The view up does not compare.

This valley low
Still does show Thy
Love flowing free;
So hear me sing
Lily praises in the spring.

Author notes

Song of Solomon 2:1,12~
(1)I am the rose of Sharon, the lily of the valleys.
(12)The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;

I was reading this morning, and I noticed the word "OF" in this verse... "the lily OF the valleys."  I was wondering why it didn't say IN the valley( w/ no "s").

We go through many valleys in life.  But we have to remember that we have a Comforter Who went to like passions as we do, yet without sin.  Not only that, but He went on BEFORE us through these "valleys" of life, and had the grand experience of ALL of them!  That is why He is the lily OF the valleyS.

And, for that reason, we can look to Him for the comfort we need, even when we're IN the valley or valleys that we may go through!  And, having Him, we can sing in this valley- Praise the Lord!

    The last three words could also be "to my King"... that popped in my head later.

    This is really sweet. It has such a great melodic tone and beat to it, that I imagine it might make a great song.

    You have a wonderful knack for putting beautiful words to paper. I would not change this at all.
