If You Would Feed

If you would feed among the lilies,
You must traverse the lonesome valleys;
So many blessings are forsaken
When narrow paths are never taken.

Author notes

Song of Solomon 2:1,16~
(1)I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
(16)My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies.

Matthew 7:13-14~
(13)Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(14)Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

    This is what it means:

In every path God has for us, there are two truths that we should always know: (1)He's been there before us, because He's leading us there, and (2)He always leads us to something that is for our good- yea, for our BEST interests!

The Song of Solomon is actually a symbolic love letter to Christians. Jesus is the One that "feeds among the lilies." But, like the other verse says, those lovely lilies grow down in the valleys... the valleys of our lives.

Therefore, if we would be like Jesus, and get the best for our lives, we're to follow in the paths that He leads us in, even the ones that go into valleys... because that's where the best of the blessings are.

I find the Lord to be very provocative, and I think it shows in this write as well as my last one. He may be trying to provoke you about something, which is always for good. My encouragement is to go to Him about it. What does He want to show you?

On a side note, I was thinking of adding another stanza on top...

You know, this one actually scares me a little bit... reason being God allowed me to write it, and I wonder what He may ask of me someday that would make this poem true in my life. Then again, He may not ask it- it just depends on what His plan is for my life. But I have heard of so many lately that are going through these "valleys"- I hurt for them.

Whoa! This is such a stunning write, and in so few words.

This is really profound, and very true, to the point I sense conviction within me. You went way beyond the mark with this one. Awesome, sis! Truly amazing!

    Deep DORK

Very mind stimulating. Pretty deep for a simple thinker like me.
