Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

Español:

Del lado de la montaña
como escalera de dios,
memorias de un tiempo pasado
de gloria y orgullo Inca.

En medio de las montañas,
Machu Picchu, ciudad de piedra,
canta una cancion
de gloria y orgullo Inca.

Estoy deseando volver
a un lugar donde no estuve.
Para tener memorias
de gloria y orgullo Inca.

English:

Lying on the mountainside
like stairways of the gods,
memories of a distant past
of glory and Inca pride.

Among the mountain peaks,
Machu Picchu, a city of stone,
sings a song
of glory and Inca pride.

I want to return to
a place I've never been.
I want to have memories
of glory and Inca pride.

    Absolutely Gorgeous!

Oh my this is so beautifully written!! Me gusto muchisimo porque esta escrito en mi primera lengua y me siento bien orgullosa porque mi hermano del alma sabe escribir bonitos poemas en español. Oh my God, I am so excited!!!! The poem was very well written in both languages (Spanish and English)... even though the writing was not about my people it means a lot to me that it was written in Spnaish. Okay I better stop rambling, because I could go on all day... I am just excited and this poem deserves an applause... not just one but many, many! Thank you for sharing with me Jim and for the wonderful gift of your pen. Blessed be, Nena

Me encanta esa poema. El español no es my primera lengua, pero como tú, quiero aprender lo mas que puedo. Cuando era más pequeña, visitaba a los piramides en Mexico. Me sorprendió como pudieron construirlos sin la tecnologia que tenemos hoy. Buen escrito!

I love this poem. Spanish is not my first language, but like you, I want to learn as much as possible. When I was littler, I visited the pyramids in Mexico. I was surprised that they could build them without the technology that we have. Excellent write.

Wow! I'm humbled by your praise, Joyce. The Incas and their cultre always facinated me too. About the translation, I noticed that other poems written in other languages often had translations, so I decided I should do it aswell... Thanks for the applause, my friend!

    Kudos!!!

Jim, What an excellent write and the subject you chose is a splendid one. I love the Incas and tales of Machu Picchu. Thank heavens you put the translation in though. I don't speak Spanish and would have been at a loss. You are certainly a talented writer and to be able to do it in other languages and keep they rhyming and flow is fantastic. Best wishes in the contest, this was absolutely beautiful. Kudos my friend!!! Joyce

Thanks, buffy. I'm studying spanish, because I love the language, and because I want to go to South America, especially to Peru. Peru and the Incas always interested me, since I was kid. Thanks for the applause!
