Well Done
I like this one... it is very short, to the point and for the contest with the one liner... I am glad you used that phrase... I have heard it so often and didn't really know what it meant. Well done. Dee -
If you're going to get REALLY technical it means "It is the life" or "It is life" depending on how you were going to use it. It means nothing that the dictionary says one thing, you have to be able to understand the language to understand the dictionary. Anyway, hurrah for using french!

Technically, it means "such is life" or "that's life". So you're both close enough.

Merci mon ami!'Et ainsi il est-means(and thus it is!) Merci~~~Suseann

like I said: I could be wrong
It's not my maternal language either... so yeah
-
c'est la vie in French means basically that's life... like when you got into a desillusion or something, or just got a hard time, there are some sinics who come up with this sentences... this is life sounds more like ceci, c'est la vie but as French is not my maternal language, but only the second language in my country I could be wrong
Best of luck!
