I held your hand when we met each other the first day;
Friends, we vowed, forever to the end.
So close we stood, such passion in things we enjoyed;
Each moment starting a new.
But little did I know of the people around you,
Mistaking you for what seemed like a fool;
A blurred image of a friend faded off into the distance;
Your tears hidden behind a million shadows.
Your smiles were just lies;
Beneath it all you were crying,
Tears breaking ripples because you were different.
I never noticed how you wanted to be loved.
But even through my ignorance;
Through my eyes for I was so naive,
I gave you so much love, so much to hold;
Because you were the only person who was ever there for me.
And in your darkest hour,
When all hope seems to be lost,
I saw at the end the blurred image of my friend
And his tears hidden behind a million shadows.
I extended my arms out
And screamed hard his name.
But I take it he didn't hear me,
Because the darkness just consumed him.
My arms grew weary
My eyes went bleak
And I cried myself a million tears,
Understanding how you're happiness was hidden behind a million shadows.
