Fema

I love watching America wipe
away buildings with the blink of
a switch, octopus its way into every
third world country's problems
on the face of this planet,
and still fail to answer the constant
cries and pleas of its own.
It makes me feel, right
To point out what's so wrong.

    Haha. Man oh man.
I like this quite a bit.
I am a "Hurricane Katrina Victim"
    and after seeing the government's
    incompetency when actions were
becoming too drastic and the crucial
help we needed, was never really seen.
After witnessing at such a young age of 17
the devastation of the place I call home,
and the aftermath's toll on our hearts,
I learned, the victims of Hurricane Katrina
and Rita were not victoms of mother nature,
which proved she wasn't so maternal,
but we are only victims of the government,
and I hope the nation learned that
the government does not have your back
    .. no matter what

    excellent!

Bravo! Our domestic policy goes to hell - what domestic policy? The federal government cannot even take care of the Katrina victims (my own belief because they were just 'poor folk' anyway)...Barbara even went so far as to strengthen my belief by saying, "They were all underprivileged people anyway". He sold himself as a compassionate conservative...yeah right... Anyway, before I go off on a rant, this is a great write! Loved it, totally agree...and best of luck in the contest. Becky

I think that this is my favorite piece of the ones I have read. I really like the last two lines. They really say it all. Best of luck in the contest.

Here I disagree with you. The "gun-toting criminal element" were a very small portion of the populatin and they didn't cause the hurricane, didn't cause the levees to break, didn't withhold money that would have fixed said levees, didn't call American citizens "refugees", didn't ignore their plight for 5 days before sending help, didn't refuse to respond to Governor Blanco's phone call on the day the hurricane happened, forcing her to leave a message with an underling, didn't say, "well they were poor, so the survivors are better off now" and didn't really have much to do with anything except give a lot of white people something to pin the blame on besides the real culprits.

Well expressed, with brevity similar to Brautigan. I have mixed feelings about the subject, I think part of the blame has to rest on the gun toteing "criminal element"

bravo...could not agree with you more...a;so, I have noticed if we have no one to blame, (i.e. no terriorst threats) we, as a country, tend to falter when a natural disaster hits the homeland...I applaud you sir

Yes, I agree. I wonder if this disaster will awaken those red representitives from their ignorant slumber or if it will push them to buy more magnetic American flags. Hopefully not the later, I hate those things.
By the way, checked out some of your music and I love what you have to say.

    Beaucoup plus mieux.

    Yes.

Exactly right and we and the world know it. Question? Will the fools in Congress and the White House ever figure it out?
