do you every read the rantings of charlie buckowski
in a room alone and untouched
feeling shallow in your brand new designer frames
an overture of tip toeing neighbors above
flip flop the pages turn
you go deep into the world of this paperback depression
falling down
following him
dirty old chuck
shovenistic fuck
betting on horses
losing his mind
that beautiful bitter old man
in a room alone and untouched

lol...have to agree with more's comment.
boy, you have a knack for endings. All the pieces I've read with your name attached to them end with a bang. More often it's a subtle one, sometimes less so, but always profound. Keep it up! -
Charles Bukowski is everything Horus8 wishes to be, an unpretensious, authentic and pure writer. An accidental genius who found his muse between Beethoven and a bottle of wiskey. It is a shame to see him defamed by a pompous self absorbed hack like whore-us-8.

I always thought reading Bukowski's poetry was like wandering through a junkyard and finding diamonds mixed in with all the trash. He didn't have to live the way he did but that's where he found his own version of truth. Have you seen the documentary on him? I can't recall the title right now but it was very sad. The story that made me feel the worst for him was when he was a teenager, he had a condition called Acne Vulgaris that is basically acne times a thousand. Very painful, swollen pimples all over his face, neck and torso. He didn't have a girlfriend all through high school but wanted so desperately to be normal. During his senior prom, he was having such a bad breakout that he had to wrap his face in gauze, and he hid in the bushes across the street watching everybody go into the auditorium, and listening to the happy kids dancing and laughing inside.
I think my favorite poem of his is "trashcan lives". Though he didn't write "feel good" poetry, he was definitely one of the best. No doubt about it.
Thanks for reminding of me of Charles. I'll have to pull one of his books off the shelf now.
Mark
P.S. The spelling of his last name is Bukowski (no c), right?

The outsider to the outsiders.
He was incredibly honest. He was no saint and didn't claim to be. He was what he wrote. My favorite is the poem where he wrote about despising the kiss-ass that worked next to him.Not sure the name. -

Is Charlie a real person? Makes it seem as if he is and that he's crazy or died due to loneliness or a breakdown? INTERESTING READ.
