Tears of sorrow filled my aching
Heart when you whispered goodbye;
Etched forever within my mind.
Reaching out I touched your hand
And you held me close in an embrace,
I love you were the words you uttered
Never do I desire that we be parted.
Oh why do you have to leave me?
Fear showed in my eyes, I cried.
This war must cease soon my beloved
Every time we are away from each other
Affection I have for you grows stronger.
Remember your promise you made to return
Safely into my arms nevermore to leave.
