The Story of Survival

Engulfing darkness,
Eating your soul live.
Why choose to run
When there’s nowhere to hide.

Reality sets in,
But you still cant believe.
You want to move on,
But you cant seem to leave.

Depression and hurt
Are all that you feel,
Never did you think
Pain could feel this real.

You think about suffering
And ending it all.
You know you cant do it.
If you cant walk, you crawl.

People are demons,
They only know aggression.
Fuck all their ignorance!
They’ll never know your passion...

Author notes

"This is about the loss of my emotional restraints on a relationship."
I wrote this at the end of a 2 year emotionally abusive relationship with my ex boyfriend. Every time I'd try to get up and leave he'd pull my feet out from under me and find a way to make me stay. Its hard when everybody around you is telling you to leave and for some odd reason, you stay.

I know how it feels to be in a relationship like that and have people tell you, friends, family, the like, to leave them. It's not easy to listen to them and the person you're with, and then listen to yourself as well.
It takes courage to get out of any type of abusive relationship. I'm glad you found that courage.
In other words, this was a good poem. I was a bit mislead in the beginning, but it cleared up. I was a bit unsure of what the poem was about, but you cleared it up in the comment. Thank you for that.
    Overall, a great poem.
I'm glad that you got out of that relationship.
