I lost myself to you

When it comes to family,
 Love has its price to pay.
  I sat there yesterday thinking,
   Why all the happiness just disappeared.

No more humor was spread at dinnertime.
 There were no more smiles or laughs.
  Everyone seemed so grim,
   As if the death keeper himself was there.

And that huge wave of sadness ran through me,
 It shot me right through the chest.
  I clutched onto it vengefully,
   Trying to erase that vivid pain.

But I lost myself to you;
 To that wicked wave of emotion.
  And so did the family I adored;
   They faded away into the darkness.

How I could ever accept such a fact?
 Fate has only been so cruel...
  And now all I do is sit here, tears in my eyes,
   Trying to think of what went wrong.
