I wish you could walk, one day in my shoes
I wish you could feel, how my mind is abused
Each and every day , by something I can't control
As it tears through my thoughts, and rips through my my soul
I wish you could travel, a path through my mind
I could only imagine, just what you would find
It is not that I want, to do this to you
It is your arms tight around me, and your voice that soothes
If I had a genie, that granted me just one wish
I would not wish for beauty, or ask to be rich
I would ask for salvation, from what holds me back
I would ask for the strength; it seems that I lack
Yes, if you could just walk, one day in my shoes
You would see how I try to fight this, yet I always lose
You would see how I suffer, you would see how I hurt,
How the aftermath feels like, I've been dragged through the dirt,
Yes, if you could just see, how this disease plagues my mind
And how I long for the happiness, that I wish I could find
This disease that controls me, has wretched through my life
I remember days full of emptiness, and all the sad lonely nights
It has slivered though my world, taking away my reality
It has locked my in handcuffs, and thrown away the key
Like a snake in the grass, its venom it spits
Then my world just goes dark, and I slide into a deep black abyss
But I cannot expect you, to ever fully understand
You say you can handle it, yet I just don't think that you can...

I still love this poem!

This was an incredible poem. I couldn't stop reading it as it went on and on. The lines fit in perfectly together, and every thought, every motion was perfect. I especially loved the lines "I wish you could travel, a path through my mind I could only imagine, just what you would find." A wonderful piece. If you're not careful, you'll be competing against yourself in this contest.
