Mellow Tones.

Missing image

Melancholy strains fill
the air of battles
fought on mountains high
Eerie echoes hang on
long after the last note
is played
Ladies and Gents step dancing
furiously keeping up with the fiddle
and flute as the pounding
of boots on wood stamp
out the beat
Lovers sway to the whispered
tune holding close the fragile
melody
with victory comes the boys
flutes and fife, drummer boy
marching out with pride
and as the last waltz is
played we rise..to a solo
rendering of..
"The amhra'in na bhi'ann" (National Anthem)

Whenever I hear the bagpipes..I think of a cat with it's tail caught in the door ..but yes, it does have a wail all of it's own

Well, they do say that Ireland never made it into the 21st century ...they still hold dances that only a fiddler and piper (flutist) play..and they raise the roof with their roars and whoops and flashing feet.

    Timeless!

this is the second historical type poem I've read in a couple of days, its very nicely written and has that 'deja vu' feel that could be applied to most any country that has had internal battles and celebrations. Very enjoyable and descriptive.

this had me thinkin' of some of my favorite books i've read. i like historical novels so it's stories frome, sometimes, centuries ago. where they had dances in barns on wooden floors, etc.
very picturesque and i enjoyed very much
    Edited on Aug 29, 3:35 p.m. because 'i can't spell barn'.

I really enjoyed the poem, it's certainly reminiscent of the last time we saw "Riverdance." Your words flow well, and that makes for nice poetry. I will say, however, that I get frustrated by poorly contrasting text that makes me strain to read, or worse yet, makes me have to hilight the whole poem to read it. I would ask you to reconsider your color choices in order to showcase this lovely poem properly.

Music may be music, but to write about music and make it sound like music is different cook and that's what you did. Very good!
