thieving asshole

have you ever known somebody you thought you could trust
only to have them kick you to the dust?
That happened to me with a friend I once knew
who took me for my goods, and gave me the screw.

i won't say his name, because i want to forget
the miserable, lying, sticky fingered git
but he was my roommate, and while I was asleep
into my bedroom he would quietly creep

then into my trousers he would let his fingers roam
and pull out my wallet, right in my home!
then help himself to my hard-earned cash
which he then transferred to his personal stash

then to my CDs he would quietly snake
looking for the ones he wanted to take
and my VHS tapes, these too, he would nim,
and write his name on them, as though they were for him.

when confronted with these acts, he tried to deny
he would blame, make excuses, cajole, and lie
or sometimes he threatened, but that didn't last
when I took him outside, and pummeled his ass.

So I moved to a new place one sun-shiny day,
and left him with a rent I knew he couldn't pay
because his thieving habits had cost him his job
he was out on the streets, with the winos and slobs

and so, in closing, I would like to advise
when choosing a roommate, keep open your eyes
keep a lock on your bedroom, and your money well hid
because you could get an asshole, just like I did.

Author notes

JEFFREY HOUSE , if you are on allpoetry.com, this is for you, you lying, thieving, chicken-shit cocksucker! if I see you again, I'm going to pound your face into pavement-pizza, and feed it to the ravens, then I'll dump whats left of you into Fountain Paint Pots, so the acid in the mud can eat the rest of you, you low-life, cowardly, dishonorably-discharged-from-the-army piece of shit!
