War Time Poem

Was it right for us to go to this place?
Where all our military troops now fight
When opposition is what they must face
With bombs, blood, and pain always in their sight
Everyday terrorists threaten their lives
They don’t know if they’ll ever see their friends
Uncertain if they’ll return to their wives
Uncertain if tomorrow it will end
Why did we really go into this war?
Where are the weapons supposedly here?
Are we even sure what we’re fighting for?
And is it worth all the terror and fear?
But now that we’re here we just can not leave
For the sake of our troops, we must believe

    Amen to that

Yes its seems so hard to understand why our boys have to be there and then hear of the other countries around that place having their own fighting .Yet if you think about it when our boys went into that region the ones who truly was out to harm us moved outward into the other countries and now they are feeling the terror there . Will we be able to settle this Im not sure but if you look at the statistics on the deaths in this country daily from drunk drivers and drug related deaths they outweigh the deaths of our soldiers so I ask who is here to end this war on drugs while our men are out there trying to end terror from afar . No one ever thinks of the harm coming to the ones in our country from self inflickted drugs when will it end .

I can not even begin to understand how people can question the war when 9/11 happened.

Understand your pity for the troops though.

    Thanks for entering.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. If you want to "blame" a country, blame Saudi Arabia (our "ally"), where most of the 9/11 terrorists came from. Afganistan was where Osama Bin Ladin was reported to be hiding out.

We can pray for and support our troops without approving of the war. They are in harm's way. Many don't understand why they are there. They are now in the middle of civil strife. Their morale is said to be depleted. Saddam was a murderer and an unsavory character, but so are many other world leaders and regimes.

this really isn't in the form of a sonnet you should check sonnet form but other then that it was really good. Just to let you know the milatary pulled out more wepons from Iraq then world war 1 and 2 combined the goverment just covered it up. This was a very great write and I could feel your emotion. Amazing poem.
