Forever Waiting

Tonight I wait
Fingers tapping
Leg shaking
Waiting
Hoping
Praying
Longing
The hands of time
Move slowly onward
Minute after minute
Hour after hour
My mind wonders
My heart weeps
Nowhere in sight
Nowhere to be found
I begin to worry
Thoughts of you in pain
Filling my aching heart
Clouding my mind
Sifting and searching
For answers
Where are you?
Why have you gone?
What did I do wrong?
Please tell me
I beg of you
Sitting here silently
Until you return
Forever waiting

Waiting for that unknown can seem interminable. Will he return? Won't he? What can be keeping him? All good questions, but unless he finally does show up, you will never know...and so you wait for there is no other option for you...

very good, expresses very well what it is to wait for someone not knowing where they are or if they are safe
