Unconditional Love

Diaper changings....

Midnight feedings....

Nights of endless pacing...

Days without sleep....

Scrapped knees.......

Bumps and bruises.....

From mud pies.....

To bath time.....

Joyous first steps.....

Astounding first words.....

From tears to laughter.....

Bedtime stories....

Bedtime prayers.....

From good morning kisses....

To welcome home hugs....

Reports cards....

Teacher and parent meetings.....

From elementary school....

To junior high school.....

School plays....

Class pictures.....

From junior high...

To high school....

Senior prom....

Graduation.....

From the smallest acts of graditude...

To the biggest show of appreciation...

From birth...

Til death....

And beyond...

A mother's love is unconditional.....

Well, Ms. Moon, you have a knack for drawing out profound comments, like from angels song...

To angels song, now that I'm judging my 'mum' contest here I ran across your comment on celticmoon's motherly entry- and a piece of wisdom hit me- if only more guys could recognize that 'want' for a baby, I think the world would be a much better place! I am going to keep your quote in the back of my mind to put it to effective use down the road in some write or other... beautiful comment.

that is very sweet. Although I am only 20 I have this want for a baby and your poem just made it all the stronger. I want someone in my life like that. I can tell it was written with love.

That alone shows your strength and dedication
Not many women live up to this level by placing their kids first. That alone earns you my respect and admiration even moreso Most people fail to realize just how impressionable and perceptive kids are. Cutting ties and doing what you did was the most healthiest thing you could have done for them. I am thrilled to know that things are looking up for you.

I am a single mother by choice my dear.....Sad to say but the father was not a good role model and I left him two years ago and moved across country. I left with nothing but my kids, our clothes and 100 dollars in my pocket. It's been a long two years but I am proud to say we made it and we are doing better than we ever were before.

To me it sounds like you do quite an excellent job as a mother especially since what you conveyed in this poem is not practiced by all. *SIGHS*
Your kids are truly blessed as so are you to be bonded in such a way. I am sorry for the fact you are doing such solo, but sometimes that in itself is all for the better. Many kudos on these beautiful sentiments and the admirable qualities you possess.

I do not try to capture anything but instead speak of what i know and practice. I am a single mother of two and I live these words everyday.

Thank you for your beautiful comment once again.

I think you have captured truly what a mother's love should be... once again you leave me quite wistful. Beautiful indeed

    Til death.....
    And beyond.....

Was merely showing that even after one dies be it mother or child the love does not stop. It will remain always and forever.

Thank for your comment, glad you enjoyed it.

YES! Wonderful piece! My mother was a single mother..raised myself and my 3 brothers alone...beginning from nothing...and look, we were hellions...even so, she stood by, unconditionally...how true this poem is...You have a wonderful talent...Certainly brings me back to and through all of the moments mentioned....elementary school, graduation, class plays, and so on...

there was a dark side to this that I just noticed:

    "Til death....

    And beyond..."

I hope that this is not something that you have experienced...I could not imagine..the heartbreak....very sad..

You've done a great job with this...one of my favorites..something i certainly wish I had written myself...bravo...wonderful wonderful job.....Thanks for letting me read it....

Yes This is so very true, I have a son and went through everything you just described, except the death part, and everything he did, my love was there no matter what. You have written this well and it speaks of truth. Thanks for sharing it.
