More each day

Everyday I miss you,

Everyday I cry.

Everyday I look above

And ask the good Lord why?

So many things have happened

Since you went away,

I wish that I could tell you

Id have so much to say.

My heart it has been broken

Like it never will again,

You were more than just my father

You were my best friend.
Sometimes I think I see you sitting in your chair,

And then I look again and I see that your not there.

I miss you every moment of each and every day.

If I had the chance to talk to you here’s the things Id say.

Thank you for the time you spent taking care of me,

Thank you for the times you let me sit upon your knee,

Thank you for loving me even when you were mad,

Thank you for correcting me the times that I was bad,

Thank you for teaching me all the things Id need to know

Thank you for letting me make mistakes so that I could learn to grow.

I guess that I’m done saying all I had to say

Just know this daddy, I miss you more each day.

This is so beautiful. Your emotions are well expressed and so fluid. You write with the pen of an Angel. I love this and I hope the pain of the loss of your dad, has faded. Memories are ours forever, something no one can ever take way..... I love the way you remember your father... this is beautifully written and so heartfelt.

    xoxo, Criss

What a beautiful tribute to your dad. Just a note re. formatting - I tend to favor four-line stanzas. I would have arranged the poem this way. (There are also a few minor suggestions for the sake of rhythm. Please let me know what you think.)

    Everyday I miss you,
and everyday I cry. (Added "and" for line balance.)
    Everyday I look above
And ask the good Lord, "Why?" (Added quotation marks to question.)

    So many things have happened
Since the day you went away, (Added "the day" for balance.)
I wish that I could tell you.
I'd have so much to say.

My heart has been broken (Took out "it" for more natural sounding language)
    Like it never will again,
You were more than just my father
You were also my best friend. (Added "also")

Sometimes I think I see you sitting in your chair,
Then I look again and I see that you're not there. (Took out "and" for line balance.)
I miss you every moment of each and every day.
If I could talk to you again, here’s what I would say.

Thank you for the time you spent taking care of me.
Thank you for the times you let me sit upon your knee.
Thank you for loving me even when you were mad.
Thank you for correcting me the times that I was bad.

    Thank you for teaching me
all the things I'd need to know
Thank you for letting me make mistakes
so that I could learn to grow.

    I guess that I’m done
saying all I had to say
    Just know this daddy . . .
I miss you more each day.

I hope my nitpicking helps makes this amazing poem a little better. I really do love this. Sounds like your father was everything a father should be and a magnificent human being.

held within that passage of time

It sounds as if you had a very close relationship with your father. Your words here show your love for him so beautifully and how deeply you feel his loss.
A wonderful glimpse at some of the heartfelt memories that you have of your dad.
    Beautifully written verse

This is so good in all the ways it can be good - from the heart and from the pen. Good, good job, Suzanne. Just so nice to read and such nice reading. Good parents are great - a blessing for those of us fortunate enough to have them. Thanks for sharing.

    So touching and loving

A very touching poem dear friend; one that comes from deep in that wonderful heart that you have. I am sure that he will be watching and know that you not only do miss him but love him very much.

Awwww...this is a beautiful birthday remembrance for your dad...
He would be so proud of this. We don't realize, when we are growing up, just what lessons our parents are teaching us..then when we get older, we understand all those things.
As long as you keep his memory in your heart, he will always be there for you...especially in your times of need.

    Beautiful piece, Sue....Mike
