(O brave heart, strong and true!)-
In the earth are but graves and a tomb!
Once loved, lost, mourned--now vexing ILLS
Is mute and forlorn where ye lie
And so 'twill be when I'm aground
For our sakes who adore Thee, Lord,
Nor shall the hand of Time efface
Of Him who is the source of love
Aye, in my heart thoult have a place
In the realms of the good and great
with regal contempt for the gross and sordid things of earth
But above all things
Not these impaired the sacred name
For he will fetch you through."
(O brave heart, strong and true!)-
Author notes
The beginning of the American Civil War (1861-1865) abruptly closed commercial traffic on the Mississippi River. After serving for two weeks with a Confederate volunteer company, Twain chose not to become involved in the war. He traveled to Carson City, Nevada, in 1861 with his brother Orion. Later, in Roughing It (1872), Twain humorously described his unsuccessful attempts at prospecting for gold and silver during this time and his eventual conclusion that he must support himself by newspaper journalism.

I liked this and thought you did a great job, also the pic fitted well with the imagery from the words you gave, this reminded me a beautiful and poetic, yet dark song by Don Maclane, " The Grave"

Wesley, You and Shakespeare have quite the tug of war going.. You two crack me up!
The mental picture i got from this comment. Just made me smile and smile ..
.. hehe ... Tell Mr. Shakespeare there is such a thing called.. as.. beautiful imperfections .. and your poetic meter is just fine in my book ... sticking tongue out at Shakespeare ... hehe ..

Gosh Morrowind, when are you going to favor us with some more of your poetry! I dreamed I saw Shakespeare. He said to me my verbal herbage was somewhat morbidly astute, but he was aware of my obvious reluctance to pay my dues and learn the harsh realities and discilplines of correct poetic meter. It was the worst nightmare I ever had. Mina, your poetry; is so promising with its noble themes and spirits. Don't be a goof-off like me. You are such a serious poet and your feelings for all things Yankee are lovely and exquisite. Your poetaster friend, Wesley.

my gosh I have not been being such a good pea lately have I? hmmmmm I really do not know what to say. I have been in the terriblest of reading moods. Its kinda weird I read and and read and there is no comprehension whatsoever... I can tell from my lack of comprehension and the mechanics of the rhyme in this piece though, (not a lack of mechanics but the very mechanics within it) that this was an exceedingly difficult poem to thread together. You always amaze me at how damn smart you are. what is even more amazing is how you can thread these complex (and honestly to "me") abstract words and lines together in a coherent manner to evoke emotional responses and even a story. You are most certainly the smarty pea in our pod Preciousest one. Anywhos I was straying bout and had to peek in and be touched by that pretty heart of yours, and I have to say in a certain way, this did make me feel like I was touching pretty hearts and thoughts.
Miss and love you Sweetest Pea,
your jojo pea on the other faraway missing you sea... -

This is really quite an accomplishment for all you guys. You know I guess God knows if we love him or not for real, huh? I won't be surprised to see this poem hang around for a long time. Was it all written by Mark Twain? I didn't think he could write lines this good.

the beauty of the ill will of the sick and the war awaits in the antidote of these words in the silken fair linen that you weave here on the page of fine silver
may our men of history go down in victory how ever that is seen
may you go in great peace after all we have seen in this vicious war today and then for our losses in all these battles
God bless you
Tamara
