vegemite

vegemite is a thick, black paste
and has the most god-awful taste

It's a vegetable extract that Australians love,
but I think it tastes like an old working glove!

it's salty and gooey and spreads on bread
when you taste it, youll wish you were dead

the Aussies say it tastes like peanut butter,
but i think it tastes like it came from the gutter

If you go to Australia, take in the sights
but stay away from that foul vegemite

LOL! Yep, it is something you have to grow up with to appreciate, mate But it really doesn't taste that bad, and Aussies don't say it tastes like peanut butter

It is strong flavoured so is supposed to be used very sparingly. A scraping on toast is really good (high in B vitamins). Great flavouring for vege soups too.
Yeah, I can understand how it would taste like "a salt shaker dipped in coal tar", to you

I come from the land downunder... so I'll just smile and give you a Vegemite sandwich. Hehe!
