baluut

In the Phillipines they have a treat
its yummy and tasty, like monkey meat.

It's tiny and brown and comes in a shell
and will fill you up if you get past the smell.

take the egg of a duck with an embryo inside
and cook it in a pit, then in the ground to hide

let it sit for a month, and rooty-toot-toot
you got yourself a scrumptious Baluut

crack it open and suck out the duck
try and kiss your sweetie! lotsa luck!

if you ever go to the Phillipines
eat a baluut, and find out what I mean.

oh they're nasty! i got drunk on mojo and let my shipmates talk me into trying one, and lost my appetite and lunch both very soon after.

Oh geez! That sounds so vile! I have heard of it, just didn't remember what it was called. Never likely to try it that's for sure, ick!
You did a good job on this one, well done!

Wow! This is very cute and I learned something too. I like the fact that you brought a little bit of the Phillipine culture to us. Great job here! Good luck in the contest.

    good! (and funny!!)

The rhyme scheme here is so simple and sophomoric I was tempted to quit reading, but I saw it through and realized, "Wow! This is both funny and educational!!" And that's when I realized that the rhyme scheme was probably meant to be childish. Even if it wasn't, I like this, and I hope you fare well in the contest. Good job!

I went over the Phillipines on my way to Korea and never had the...uh...pleasure(guffaw) of a baluut. This was quite comical and gave me a chuckle!

Wow, that's an interesting poem. Since I have Asian relatives, I often consider squishy and stinky things to be delicacies, weird though they may be! Duck eggs are actually quite good, but I guess if you let anything sit for a month, it'll go bad, lol.

Anyways, cute poem. It sorta felt like it ended rather abruptly, but still, a lighthearted read. G-luck in the contest!
