I Can't Imagine

As I gaze at you,
My look reading but not staring,
I realize that no matter what will happen,
I can't imagine you doing anything
But being there and holding my hand.
Can't imagine you not being a friend,
Not laughing with me,
Not laughing at me,
Not making me laugh at myself.

And I'm grateful every day,
And I pray every day to the Heavenly Father
To keep you with me,
And I praise Him for the gift he's given me
Of your friendship.
Someday, perhaps soon,
Friendship will blossom as a spring bud
And it will grow as a summer sunflower
Into love.

But for now I'm content to look at you,
And laugh with you,
And hold you
And be with you.
For no matter where life goes,
I can't imagine you
Not standing there beside me.
